AZ Firefighter Recruit Dies in Training

Cody Treatch, a Rural Metro Fire cadet in the Tuscon area, passed away on August 23 after falling ill during training earlier this month.

Treatch was hospitalized on August 14, but despite medical efforts, he did not recover. He fell ill in what Rural Metro described as heat/dehydration-related injury. Treatch’s father is Rural Metro Fire Marshall Willie Treatch. Treatch leaves behind a wife and family.

The Rural Metro Fire Chief Karl Isselhard expressed the department’s sorrow, stating, “Our focus is on supporting the Treatch family and our personnel as we all mourn the passing of Cody and work through this difficult time.”

Family and friends have established a Meal Train link to collect donations for the family.
